Labor Day is much more enjoyable when you have the day off from work. And this year, I did. I spent the weekend with my adopted Iowa family at Silver Lake and we had a wonderful time. Plenty of delicious food, amazing weather, fun family members, lots of time on the lake tubing and a trip to the flea market rounded out the long weekend. I made several attempts to water ski, but couldn't ever make it up. It's a lot harder than it looks! One of the best parts of the weekend happened Sunday night, when Grandpa Roger broke out his antique malt maker, purchased from the local flea market some years back, to mix up some homemade chocolate malts. I meant to snap a picture of my cup of the malted ice cream goodness, but I guess I slurped it down too fast!
